2008 PCPA Conference

IF IT'S CONFERENCE, THE PAC IS BACK!
The GRI© Alumni Network is again active at conference raising money to support the Pennsylvania Community Providers Political Action Committee (PAC) throughout the year. Look for network members to be selling PACPot tickets in Exhibit Hall and during group gatherings and join in the Silent Auction & Scramble on Monday and Tuesday.

Silent Auction & Silent Scramble
Silent AuctionTaking place within Exhibit Hall the Silent Auction allows you to make written bids on items from around Pennsylvania. The highest bidder at the end of the event takes home the item. Bidding begins Monday when the Exhibit Hall opens and concludes Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. You can bid more than once for the same item. If you really want something and you have been outbid, bid again! Items such as autographed memorabilia and large gift baskets are generally part of the auction.

The Silent Scramble allows guests to participate by purchasing tickets and placing them in drawing contention for an item in the auction. Tickets are sold at a fixed price. You can use your tickets at your discretion, placing all of them in the running for one item or distributing them among several! Ticket holders are required to retain half of each ticket so the winner can be identified. Small gift baskets and single items such as paintings and wood carvings are generally included in the Silent Scramble. Bidding ends at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday and winners will be announced during the Ice Cream Social in Exhibit Hall at that time.

PacPot

PacPot
Excitement about the GRI Alumni Network PACPot continues in 2008! Tickets are sold at a price per ticket or a fixed number of tickets at a fixed price in Exhibit Hall and at the Association Luncheon and Awards Recgnition by network members. At the close of the Ice Cream Social on Tuesday afternoon a winning ticket will be drawn – the winner receives 40 percent of the PACPot and the remaining 60 percent is deposited to the PAC account.

Bowling Tournament
The GRI Network annual bowling tournament will be held during conference and raises money to support the Pennsylvania Community Providers PAC. The minimum entry fee is $40 for single bowlers or $100 for teams of three. Everyone must register with Anne Leisure at PCPA by September 15. Individual bowlers will be placed in teams; so if you want to bowl but don’t have your own team, register and one will be formed for you! Teams may pay the registration fee as individuals (which counts as a PAC contribution), but are encouraged to obtain sponsorships from staff, colleagues, and friends. A sponsorship donation can be any amount and can be accepted via personal check or credit card by the PAC.

BowlingThe tournament is single elimination. Teams are established and lanes reserved at designated times on Monday and Tuesday when teams may bowl. Team scores during games are totaled and given to Anne Leisure. The tournament championship is played at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. On Wednesday the winning team will be announced during the luncheon preceding the State of the State Plenary. Come join the fun as a bowler or the audience and support the PAC!

Silent Auction, Silent Scramble, and PACPot winners are announced at the close of the Ice Cream Social on Tuesday. All proceeds from activities support the PCP PAC and its work for members in state and local government.
