December 12\, 2016\n10:00 am EST\, 9:00 am CST\, 8:00 am MST\, 7:00 am PST \nThis webinar will examine the recently released final rule on the Merit-Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) and Alternative Payment Model (APM) Incentive under the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule. Specifically\, it will review the final criteria for the first performance period of MIPS\, which begins January 1\, 2017\, highlight major policy changes from earlier proposals\, and explore what it means for community rehabilitation providers. \nAt the end of the session\, each participant will: \n• Describe the requirements on MIPS eligible clinicians in year 1 of the new program;\n• Explain different approaches to satisfying the reporting criteria in year 1;\n• Understand the exclusion from MIPS for qualified participants of an Advanced APM;\n• Assess the potential impact of MIPS and APMs on you and your organization; and\n• Identify anticipated changes in year 2 and future years of the program. \nMr. Tomar is an attorney in the Washington\, DC office of Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP and is outside counsel to the American Medical Rehabilitation Providers Association (AMRPA). He specializes in federal health care policy and regulation\, and counsels AMRPA and other clients on issues relating to programmatic compliance\, coverage\, and reimbursement. Mr. Tomar earned his law degree and master’s in public health from the University of California\, Los Angeles. Prior to law school\, he worked as a lobbyist in health care at Patton Boggs LLP and at several other firms and organizations prior. \nMs. Zhang is the Policy and Research Associate at AMRPA. She has been with the Association since 2011 in various capacities and supports the membership by commenting on Medicare’s proposed policies\, advising members on regulatory issues\, and evaluating Medicare policies\, particularly in the quality arena. She earned her undergraduate degree from Duke University and worked at the Duke University Medical Center prior to joining AMRPA. \nRegister here.
