The Office of Long-Term Living (OLTL) is offering a webinar on the topic of the Pennsylvania ABLE Savings Program. A PA ABLE account gives individuals with qualifying disabilities (eligible individuals), and their families and friends, a tax-free way to save for disability-related expenses while maintaining government benefits. Federal and state law authorized the creation of PA ABLE accounts. Please join Ryan Buxton, Program Representative from the Pennsylvania Treasury Department, who will conduct the webinar.

OLTL Service Coordinators and Direct Service Providers are strongly encouraged to participate in this webinar that will help you understand the ABLE Program and how it can benefit the OLTL participants you serve.

ODP Announcement 131-17 shares that the new Community Living Waiver has been approved by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and is available on the Department of Human Services website.

As communicated in ODP Announcement 116-17, the Community Living Waiver was submitted to CMS on October 3, 2017.  Since that time, ODP has been engaged in ongoing discussions with CMS. Changes have been made to the final approved Community Living Waiver based on those discussions. The full approved Community Living Waiver, as well as a side-by-side of substantive changes made, is available here.

ABLE Legislation
Senator Lisa Baker’s legislation to establish Achieving a Better Life Experience (ABLE) tax savings accounts for individuals with disabilities in Pennsylvania (SB 879) passed the House Finance Committee on March 16 and will now move to the full House for a vote. The state’s Treasury Department will be responsible to establish these accounts.
