ODP Vaccination Update

Today, Office of Developmental Programs (ODP) Medical Director Dr. Cherpes and Deputy Secretary Ahrens gave a brief update regarding the polices concerning vaccination of staff and individuals in the ODP service system. The PowerPoint includes a summary of the webinar. In addition, clarification was provided regarding three frequently asked questions:

• Will ODP be mandating vaccination for staff or individuals receiving services? ODP does not intend to mandate use of the vaccine for staff or individuals.
• Where do Lifesharing providers, family members, and the individual living in Lifesharing fit into the current vaccination plan? Lifesharing providers are included in Phase 1A as direct caregivers; other family members are also included in 1A as unpaid caregivers. The individuals being served in Lifesharing fall into Phase 1B.
• How will TB testing currently required by regulation for staff and individuals be handled when the testing is due near the time of COVID vaccination? ODP will be releasing guidance regarding this question. The plan is to mirror the guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), which advises that there be a waiting period after the COVID vaccination.
