Individuals with mental illness and those with intellectual disabilities as well as autism are the most at-risk group. Join Positive Practice as they share best practices and available resources for clinicians, providers, and County/Administrative Entities (AEs). National implications will be discussed as well with other Covenant House programs across the United States.

Homeward Bound: Exploring Issues Faced by Justice-Involved Persons

The 30th Annual Forensic Rights and Treatment Conference, brought to us by Drexel University, will be presented this year with a spectacular online educational program addressing clinical, policy, and environmental issues that impact persons involved with the criminal justice system. RCPA highly recommends this engaging experience, and members can see further details, including registration, in the conference brochure.

The plenary sessions will address implicit bias, false confessions, Megan’s Law, and an overview of the pardons process. The workshops will offer skill-building sessions to use in your own settings. All sessions will be recorded, which will allow you to earn additional continuing education credits by viewing sessions at your convenience. The conference will be available to registrants until December 31, 2022, and you will be able to see all of the workshop offerings.

For more information contact Drexel via email or call 215-831-4055. If you have additional questions, please contact RCPA Policy Director Jim Sharp or Carol Ferenz.

Governor Wolf today signed a proclamation citing October 2 through 8 as Juvenile Justice Week. This annual proclamation brings attention and awareness to the mission and vision of juvenile justice in the Commonwealth as well as the programs and initiatives that have made Pennsylvania a national leader in juvenile and child welfare programming.

Each year, counties throughout Pennsylvania sponsor annual Juvenile Justice Week activities to enhance public understanding of the juvenile justice system and to pay tribute to all those who are part of this important effort.

In addition, the James E. Anderson Pennsylvania Conference on Juvenile Justice will return to the Hilton Harrisburg on Wednesday, November 2 through Friday, November 4, 2022. This year, the Conference returns to an in-person event, and Resource Day will be held on Friday, November 4 between 8:00 am – 11:00 am.

JCJC invites providers to join the conference as an exhibitor at Resource Day, where your organization can inform and educate a wide variety of conference attendees, including but not limited to juvenile court judges, juvenile court hearing officers, juvenile probation staff, attorneys, providers, and other system stakeholders.

As a small sign of JCJC’s appreciation, exhibitor fees for this year’s Resource Day are waived. The announcement provides details regarding this year’s conference.

RCPA supports and celebrates the Pa. Juvenile Justice System and Juvenile Justice Week of 2022. If you have any questions, please contact RCPA Policy Director Jim Sharp.

RCPA staff and the Conference Committee are gearing up for our long-awaited in-person conference to be held in Hershey, PA, October 11 – 14, 2022!
