The Office of Developmental Programs (ODP) has shared ODPANN 24-128, which serves as a guide for American Sign Language (ASL) — English Interpreter services available starting January 1, 2025.

The American Sign Language (ASL) — English Interpreter Service is for individuals in an ODP waiver who utilize ASL. Interpreting is the process of conveying English in grammatically correct American Sign Language and the process of conveying American Sign Language in English.

This service is available to individuals in the:

  • Consolidated Waiver;
  • Person/Family Directed Support (P/FDS) Waiver;
  • Community Living Waiver; and
  • Adult Autism Waiver.

This guide provides information on the service and its requirements. It can be found under the Deaf, Hard of Hearing, DeafBlind section on MyODP.

The Office of Developmental Programs (ODP) has announced the release of the Guide to the ODP Deaf, Hard of Hearing, DeafBlind Services. ODP is committed to effectively supporting d/Deaf, hard of hearing, and DeafBlind (DHHDB) individuals. The guide provides information, guidance, and combines all the current announcements (ODPANN 21-055, ODPANN 22-097, and ODPANN 22-099) into one document for ease of use. It can be found under the Deaf, Hard of Hearing, DeafBlind Required Training on the MyODP website.

The Office of Developmental Programs (ODP) has shared ODPANN 24-110. This communication announces the new Deaf Services required training, replacing the previously required Harry M Settlement training (ODP Communication Number 119-17).

The Deaf, Hard of Hearing, DeafBlind Required Training is available on MyODP’s website.

The Office of Developmental Programs (ODP) has announced the annual publication of the Resource Guide for Supporting Deaf, DeafBlind, and Hard of Hearing Individuals. This guide offers resources in one central location for those who support or care for someone who is Deaf, Hard of Hearing, or DeafBlind and receives supports from ODP.

This week is marked annually in honor of leading humanitarian Helen Keller’s birthday on June 27. Being deaf and blind herself, Keller’s work made a large difference in the lives of DeafBlind people. It is much more common than many people realize. Over 15 million people worldwide are estimated to be living with severe DeafBlindness. This week is a chance for us to raise awareness of deafblindness and make Pennsylvania a more DeafBlind-friendly place.

The Office of Developmental Programs (ODP) has announced the third annual publication of the Resource Guide for Supporting Deaf, DeafBlind, and Hard of Hearing Individuals. The purpose of this guide is to offer resources in one central location for those who support or care for someone who is Deaf, Hard of Hearing, or DeafBlind and receives supports from ODP. The guide provides some of the most frequently accessed resources to assist in addressing the unique needs of these populations, such as information about American Sign Language (ASL) courses, home modifications, assistive technology, a foundational organizations directory, and so much more!

Development of this guide included input from individuals within the Deaf, DeafBlind, hard of hearing, and hearing communities and will be revised annually by ODP’s Deaf, DeafBlind, and Hard of Hearing Advisory Committee. This guide will also be available in the near future on MyODP under Training > Special Populations > Deaf Services.
