The Office of Developmental Programs (ODP) has shared a new tool designed to support Administrative Entities and ODP staff when Providers or Supports Coordination Organizations (SCO) choose to provide agency-developed or agency-identified training that meets the General Orientation and annual training requirements of the 55 PA Code 6100. The reviewer determines if the identified staff completed each required annual training core course based on provider training records, including, but not limited to, a description of the course, sign-in sheets, transcripts, or certificates of completion from the training. ODPANN 24-036 is being included as a reminder of the annual training requirements.

The Office of Developmental Programs (ODP) has shared ODPANN 24-073, which announces that the Department-approved Supports Broker recertification training is available for the first seven months of Fiscal Year (FY) 2024/25. The Office of Developmental Programs (ODP) requires that Support Service Professionals/Supports Brokers under the Consolidated, Person/Family Directed Support (P/FDS), and Community Living (CL) Waivers must successfully complete a Supports Broker Certification Program provided by ODP or its designee every three years following their initial certification. Please view the announcement for details.

The resources for the Administration for Community Living’s (ACL) Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Technical Assistance and Resource Center’s (TARC) June 2024 webinar Cognitive Impairment in Substance Use Disorder Treatment: Neurologic Informed Care are now available and posted on the ACL website. The resources posted include the webinar recording (captioned and available on YouTube) and webinar slides.

During the webinar, John D. Corrigan, PhD, ABPP, introduced the new American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) expectations for the treatment of persons with cognitive impairment, including “Neurologic Informed Care,” as described in the new criteria. Implications for the identification of people in treatment who have a history of brain injury, as well as the use of accommodations to make treatment more accessible, were discussed.
