The next Long-Term Services and Supports (LTSS) Subcommittee meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, via webinar with remote streaming, from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm. Register for the meeting here. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the webinar.

WellSky will be offering a one-hour webinar entitled “60 Minutes With the IRF Final Rule” that will focus on the fiscal year (FY) 2025 Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility (IRF) Final Rule, which was finalized on July 31, 2024. It will go into effect October 1, 2024. As with past final rules, it will have a financial impact on reimbursement for IRFs as well as operational changes from both this final rule and past final rules going into effect. Join long-term care expert Jane Snecinski, FACHE, MRMC, MBA, for a live webinar and learn about:

  • The algorithm for IRF reimbursement (and key factors you should know);
  • The financial impact the rule will have on your IRF reimbursement;
  • Changes to the quality reporting factors; and
  • Changes included in previous years’ IRF final rules that may go into effect October 1, 2024.

The Pennsylvania Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs (DDAP) will hold its next ASAM technical assistance webinar at 10:00 am Monday, September 9, 2024. It will be the fourth in the four-month “Conversations With Scott Boyles” series. Boyles serves as Senior National Training Director for Train for Change Inc. During September’s webinar, the discussion about handling administrative discharges will continue. The session and Boyles’ series will then conclude with a focus on the principles of the ASAM Criteria.

As a reminder, webinars are regularly scheduled for 10:00 am on the first Monday of each month.

Dr. Jonathan Pool
Speaker Bio:

Dr. Jonathan Pool is a music therapist and researcher at the Cambridge Institute for Music Therapy Research located in Cambridge, England. He is a senior arts therapist at Chroma, providing clinical supervision to many therapists across the United Kingdom.

He trained as a music therapist and then as a researcher at Anglia Ruskin University. He was awarded his PhD in 2013 for his research in brief group music therapy for cognitive functional gains and emotional needs of adult brain injury survivors in community neurorehabilitation.

Jonathan’s work includes developing interdisciplinary interventions for people with acquired brain injury and their families. As a researcher, he is dedicated to developing evidence on the use of music and music therapy in assessment and intervention for people affected by neurological impairments and diseases, with a special interest in disorders of consciousness. He is passionate about improving lives and reducing suffering through the use of music.

Objectives: At the end of this session, the learner will:

  • Understand why a music-based assessment is ideal for the assessment of children and young people with Disorders of Consciousness (DoC);
  • Gain knowledge of the development of the MuSICCA – a music-based assessment tool;
  • Learn how the MuSICCA is used to assess consciousness in pediatric DoC;
  • Learn about how the MuSICCA is being tested for validity, reliability, and clinical utility; and
  • Understand how it can support goal setting and planning of care and treatment.

Audience: This webinar is intended for all interested members of the rehabilitation team.

Level: Intermediate
