Message from the Office of Long-Term Living (OLTL): 

The Pennsylvania Department of Human Services is offering a webinar on the topic of the Social Security Administration’s Ticket to Work Benefits Counseling, which provides individuals, their families, friends, and caregivers information relative to their benefits/services and competitive integrated employment. This overview will be presented by Ms. Joy Smith, AHEDD Work Incentive Planning and Assistance, Certified Work Incentive Coordinator, Regional Manager.

Office of Long-Term Living Service Coordinators, Direct Service Providers, CHC-MCO staff, and any individuals that work on employment are strongly encouraged to participate in this webinar on an overview of Benefits Counseling as it relates to the participants you serve.

Speaker Bios:
Diane Ulmer and Courtney Kossow are both Occupational Therapists treating patients with Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) in the rehabilitation hospital setting at Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska. Diane serves as the Spinal Cord Injury Program Manager at Madonna Rehab Hospital, where she provides clinical leadership and program development for a continuum of care, including long-term acute care, acute rehab, transitional care, rehab day program, outpatient, and follow-up clinics. Courtney is the Continence Program Leader for the hospital and is passionate about her work.

Objectives:
At the end of the session, the learner will:

  • Recognize three key aspects of a bowel and bladder program a child needs to understand to be independent;
  • Identify adaptive equipment options to promote independence; and
  • Discuss techniques available to promote independence.

Audience: This webinar is intended for all members of the rehabilitation team, including medical staff, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech language pathologists, psychologists, mental health professionals, and other interested professionals.

Level: Intermediate

Join us on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at 10:00 am for an “ODP-Administered HCBS Waiver Rates Revisions and Impact Analysis Tool” webinar sponsored by RCPA, PAR, MAX, The Alliance of Community Service Providers, and The Arc of PA.

As everyone knows, this rate refresh is a critical development and long awaited. We also know that we will need a thorough analysis of the adequacy of these rates. For that reason, RCPA has partnered with PAR, MAX, and the Alliance of Community Providers to hold a webinar on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at 10:00 am. More information on this webinar will be coming later today.

The Pennsylvania Department of Human Services’ (DHS) Office of Long-Term Living (OLTL) is offering a webinar on the topic of the PA Achieving a Better Life Experience (ABLE) Savings Program on January 28, 2022, from 1:00 pm–2:00 pm. A PA ABLE account gives individuals with qualifying disabilities (eligible individuals) and their families and friends a tax-free way to save for disability-related expenses while maintaining government benefits. Federal and state law authorized the creation of PA ABLE accounts. The presentation will be given by a representative of the PA Treasury Department.

OLTL Service Coordinators, Direct Service Providers, CHC-MCO staff, and any individuals that work with employment are strongly encouraged to participate in this webinar, which will help you understand the PA ABLE Program and how it can benefit the OLTL participants you serve.
