Tomorrow, February 5, the House Human Services Committee will hold a second informational meeting on the treatment and support for Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI). The meeting will be held at 9:00 am in Room G-50 in the Irvis Office Building of the Capitol.

The hearing will include testimony to be provided by the PA Department of Health, NeuroRestorative, Woods Services, Penn State Health, and Penn State College of Medicine. Following the testimony from the panelists, they will receive questions from the members of the Committees.

The meeting will be livestreamed, which can be accessed from the Human Services website here.

Mind Your Brain Foundation recently announced they will join forces with Beechwood NeuroRehab, a brain injury provider who is part of the Woods System of Care that provides lifelong care to individuals with traumatic brain injury (TBI), intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), and critical mental health needs in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. This collaboration will provide information on policy and advocacy at their conference on November 4, 2023, from 8:30 am – 3:00 pm.

This conference provides an opportunity for survivors, advocates, and providers to gain the skills they need to make a difference for the other 1.7 million people who sustain a traumatic brain injury annually through collaboration, information sharing, and education so that we can collectively become a more powerful voice to improve rehabilitation services to this community.

Join Woods Services to hear from expert panelists in the field of health and human services who will speak from experience about meeting the medical and behavioral healthcare needs of populations that require complex care, such as people with intellectual disability and/or behavioral health complexities — a challenge for both the individuals in need and their healthcare providers. Panelists will discuss how they have built programs and services, and how an integrated and coordinated service delivery system of programs and services around a population, taking into account their changing needs over time, not only better serves that group — and is what these individuals prefer — but is an approach that will also result in large, cohesive, and concentrated market shares, making it a sustainable model.
