Secretary Val Arkoosh and leadership from the Department of Human Services (DHS) will host a webinar to discuss the proposed 2026/27 budget for the department. The briefing will take place at 10:00 am on Friday, February 6. If you are unable to attend, the briefing will be recorded and available for viewing afterwards on DHS’ YouTube channel.

Today, February 3, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro is set to deliver his 2026/27 proposed budget to the PA General Assembly with the backdrop of ongoing concerns regarding looming funding cuts at both the Federal and State levels. RCPA will cover the presentation and work to provide a global overview of the Governor’s budget design, as well as areas that may impact members, by COB today. Throughout the week, RCPA Policy Directors will be conducting a deeper review of the impacts, as well.

Additionally, we understand DHS Secretary Dr. Valerie Arkoosh will give a webinar later in the week to present the DHS specifics in the proposed plan. As details become available, RCPA will communicate the information to members.

The Office of Developmental Programs (ODP) announced that registration is now open for the March Certified Investigator (CI) Forum. The Temple University Harrisburg Certified Investigator Program and ODP will be facilitating Forums for Certified Investigators and others involved in the incident investigation process.

The Office of Developmental Programs (ODP) announces the upcoming data submission window for Performance-Based Contracting (PBC) to Providers of Residential Habilitation, Life Sharing, and/or Supported Living services in the Consolidated and/or Community Living Waivers (residential services) for contract year 2026/27.

ODP will hold a training for the MyPBC Portal system for Residential Service Providers on Thursday, February 5, 2026. Providers may register to attend using the MyPBC Portal Training GoTo Webinar link or access the MyODP Performance-Based Contracting web page for more information.

This webinar is a follow-up to Dr. Bohl’s January 2025 webinar Understanding and Treating Pediatric Vision Impairments, including additional practical treatment options. Attendees may wish to review the former presentation prior to attending.

Presenter Bio:

Dr. Bohl earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of the Incarnate Word Rosenberg School of Optometry in San Antonio, Texas, and completed a residency in neuro-optometric rehabilitation through the State University of New York College of Optometry. Dr. Bohl joined the team at Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital in 2017, where she supports individuals with vision impairments in the rehabilitation setting.

Objectives: At the end of this session, the learner will:

  • Review therapy techniques beneficial to pediatric patients with visual deficits;
  • Identify when to use techniques to benefit peripheral awareness, pursuits, saccades, visual perceptual skills, and functional binocularity; and
  • Adapt therapeutic interventions to adjust levels of difficulty and ensure appropriateness for different age populations.

Audience: This webinar is intended for all interested members of the rehabilitation team.

Level: Beginner – Intermediate
