Certified Investigator

The Office of Developmental Programs (ODP) has announced that Temple University Harrisburg’s Certified Investigator (CI) Program and ODP will be facilitating forums for Certified Investigators and others involved in the incident investigation process. They have also announced the posting of Q&A documents from past CI Forums on MyODP. Please review the announcement for details on registering for these forums as well as accessing the Q&A files.

The Office of Developmental Programs (ODP) is sharing ODPANN 23-044: Now Open: Registration for Certified Investigator (CI) Initial Certification Course. The purpose of this announcement is to communicate that registration for the July–December 2023 CI Initial Certification Course classes (also known as cohorts) is now open on MyODP. ODP Announcement 23-035 announces that an updated Certified Investigator Peer Review Manual (CIPR) is now available. Agency Board of Directors and Human Rights Committee members, Agency Administrative, Management and Risk Management staff, Administrative Entities (AEs), Supports Coordination Organizations (SCOs), Supports Coordinators (SCs), Direct Service Providers (DSPs), and Contracted Entities that are responsible for participating in the Peer Review process for investigations that are conducted as a requirement under Incident Management Bulletin 00-21-02 and under Chapter 6100.404 Final Incident Report should all be familiar with the information contained in the manual.

All prospective and current Certified Investigators (CI), Administrative Review Committee members, and other administrative staff are required to be familiar with the 2023 CIPR Manual to ensure their understanding and use of the standards and protocols contained in it. In order to align with Incident Management (IM) Bulletin 00-21-02 (effective on July 1, 2021) and the Enterprise Incident Management (EIM) system, several new or expanded topics have been added to the manual. This document replaces the manual that was published in 2021.

ODP Announcement 22-120 communicates that registration for the January – June 2023 Certified Investigator (CI) Initial Certification Course classes (also known as cohorts) are now open on MyODP. Due to continued concerns regarding COVID-19, the January – June 2023 CI Initial Certification cohorts of the course will be provided virtually rather than in person.

If you do not have a MyODP account, use the MyODP login page and follow the instructions under “Is this your first time here?” If you are not sure whether or not you have a MyODP account, contact MyODP Support or Kiyona Duncan.

ODP Announcement 22-114 reports that the Office of Developmental Programs (ODP) contracts with Temple University Harrisburg to deliver the ODP Certified Investigator Program. ODP and Temple University are conducting Certified Investigator Friday Forums. These forums are an opportunity for current Certified Investigators and other interested parties to receive up-to-date information about the incident investigation process. ODP Announcement 22-053 serves to communicate that the Temple University Harrisburg Certified Investigator Program and the Office of Developmental Programs (ODP) will be facilitating Forums for Certified Investigators (CIs) and others involved in the incident investigation process, as well as to announce the posting of Q&A documents from past CI Forums on MyODP.

The session date is June 10, 2022, and the topic is “Peer Review Overview.” There will be two sessions available on June 10, 2022, from 10:00 am – 11:30 am and 1:00 pm – 2:30 pm. The same topic will be covered in each session.

Seating is limited, and you can only sign up for one forum session per date. Participants can submit questions via email prior to the session until close of business (COB) the Friday before the scheduled forum on June 3, 2022. Registration for June 10, 2022, is currently open and will close at the end of the day on June 8, 2022.

ODP Announcement 22-027 states that the Temple University Harrisburg Certified Investigator Program and the Office of Developmental Programs (ODP) will be facilitating Forums for Certified Investigators (CIs) and others involved in the incident investigation process. It also announces the posting of Q&A documents from past CI Forums on MyODP.

ODP Announcement 21-088 announces the release of an updated Certified Investigator Peer Review Manual and notifies providers that Temple University will begin its 2021–2022 peer review process on December 1, 2021.

This document replaces the manual that was published in 2018. All prospective and current CIs, Administrative Review Committee (ARE) members, and other administrative staff are required to be familiar with the peer review process guidelines that are outlined in the manual. Prospective and current CIs, ARE members, and other administrative staff should review the entire 2021 Certified Investigator Peer Review Manual to ensure their understanding and use of the standards and protocols contained within it.

To align with Incident Management (IM) Bulletin 00-21-02 (which was issued March 1, 2021, and became effective on July 1, 2021) and the Enterprise Incident Management (EIM) system, several new or expanded topics have been added to the manual. The 2021 Certified Investigator Peer Review Manual can be found on MyODP by using the following path:

  • By clicking: 2021 Certified Investigator Peer Review Process Manual.

In addition to the release of the 2021 Certified Investigator Peer Review Manual, Temple University will begin its 2021–2022 peer review process on December 1, 2021. Provider investigations will be selected at random, and notifications will be sent by Temple University to inform providers of the incidents selected for review.

ODP Announcement 21-085 serves to communicate that registration for the January–June 2022 sessions of the CI Initial Certification Course are now open on MyODP. Due to continued concerns regarding COVID-19, all January–June 2022 Initial CI Certification sessions (or cohorts) of the course will be provided virtually rather than in person. To register, use the registration link on the Certified Investigator Initial Certification Course Information page. You must be logged into MyODP to access the registration page.
