The Office of Developmental Programs (ODP) contracts with Temple University Harrisburg to deliver the ODP Certified Investigator (CI) Program. ODP and Temple University have developed a new lesson that, in addition to the exam, must be completed as part of the recertification process.

The new lesson is called “Recertification Review: The Certified Investigator’s Role in the Investigative Process.” This lesson will provide an overview of the investigation process as well as cover anything that has changed in the CI Manual since the CI’s last certification. This new requirement is effective beginning with May 2025 recertifications.

Additionally, there will be some timeframe changes to when the recertification exam is available, beginning with May 2025 recertifications.

The Office of Developmental Programs (ODP) contracts with Temple University Harrisburg to deliver the ODP Certified Investigator (CI) Program, which includes conducting Certified Investigator Forums. These forums are an opportunity for current Certified Investigators and other interested parties to receive up-to-date information about the incident investigation process.

The next session date and time is Friday, March 14, 2025, from 10:00 am – 11:30 am.

The topic will be “Communication During Investigations Part II,” presented by ODP’s Special Populations Unit. During this session, they will discuss effective ways to ensure communication accommodations are offered during interviews with those who may not use traditional communication.

The Office of Developmental Programs (ODP) contracts with Temple University Harrisburg to deliver the ODP Certified Investigator (CI) Program. ODP and Temple University have developed and released new online optional lessons, which are designed to enhance investigatory skills and be helpful resources to CIs, Administrative Review Committee members, CI Peer Reviewers, Incident Management (IM) Reps, and others involved in the incident investigation process.

The Office of Developmental Programs (ODP) has announced that Temple University Harrisburg’s Certified Investigator (CI) Program and ODP will be facilitating forums for Certified Investigators and others involved in the incident investigation process. They have also announced the posting of Q&A documents from past CI Forums on MyODP. Please review the announcement for details on registering for these forums as well as accessing the Q&A files.

The Office of Developmental Programs (ODP) has shared ODPANN 23-047: Office of Developmental Programs (ODP) and Temple University Harrisburg — Certified Investigator Initial Certification Course Delivery Questionnaire. This communication asks stakeholders to complete a survey to gain input on future delivery methods for the Certified Investigator Initial Certification course.

The short questionnaire will help determine the path moving forward for scheduling in-person and virtual CI Initial Certification courses. ODP would like to hear from current CIs, previous CIs, organization management, administration, and leadership.

The purpose of this announcement is to communicate that registration for the July–December 2023 CI Initial Certification Course classes (also known as cohorts) is now open on MyODP. ODP Announcement 22-106 states that the Office of Developmental Programs (ODP) contracts with Temple University Harrisburg to deliver the ODP Certified Investigator Program and that ODP and Temple University are conducting Certified Investigator Friday Forums. These forums are an opportunity for current Certified Investigators and other interested parties to receive up-to-date information about the incident investigation process.

The next session date and time is Friday October 7, 2022, at 10:00 am – 11:30 am. The topic being covered is the Certified Investigator Report (CIR).

ODP Announcement 22-056 is to communicate that registration for the July – December 2022 Certified Investigator (CI) Initial Certification Course classes (also known as cohorts) is now open on MyODP. The Initial CI Certification Course was created to ensure that all incidents requiring an investigation receive a systematic review that meets established standards. In order to perform investigations, the investigator must successfully complete all requirements of the CI Initial Certification Course.

Due to continued concerns regarding COVID-19, the July – December 2022 CI Initial Certification cohorts of the course will be provided virtually rather than in person.

To register for the CI Initial Certification course:

  1. Log into your MyODP account.
  2. Go to the Certified Investigator Initial Certification Course Information web page.
  3. Visit the Registration web page.

If you do not have a MyODP account, visit the MyODP login web page and follow the instructions under “Is this your first time here?” If you are not sure if you have a MyODP account, contact MyODP Support or Kiyona Duncan. For assistance with registration, contact Kiyona Duncan. For questions regarding course content, contact Amanda Black.

ODP Announcement 22-003 shares that ODP and Temple University are conducting CI Friday Forums. These forums are an opportunity for current CIs and other interested parties to receive up-to-date information about the incident investigation process. The session dates and topics are:

  • February 11, 2022 — Peer Review: Year in Review
  • April 8, 2022 — Administrative Review Overview
  • June 10, 2022 — Topic to be announced (Save the Date)

There will be two sessions available on each date. One session will be hosted in the morning from 10:00 am–11:30 am, and the second session will be hosted in the afternoon from 1:00 pm–2:30 pm. The same topic will be covered in each session.

Seating is limited, and you can only sign up for one forum session per date. Participants can submit questions prior to the session until close of business (COB) the Friday before the scheduled Forum.
