Medication Administration

ODP Announcement 22-125 is to provide updates regarding the Medication Administration training. The observation timeframe schedule for Initial Training Requirements has been reduced. If the required initial medication administration observations have not been completed successfully within 90 days, the student must repeat the entire standard medication training course. Trainers will now be responsible for marking the Handwashing/Gloving total grade activity in the Medication Administration Student course. The announcement also includes the Train-the-Trainer Winter/Spring 2023 Face-to-Face Schedule.

ODP Announcement 22-113 is to provide guidance and a timeline for the implementation requirement of the 2022 Online Medication Administration Training Course and manual. It is also to announce the discontinuation of the 2004 paper course and paper examinations, effective on January 1, 2024.

All Medication Administration trainers are now required to take the new 2022 online Medication Administration Training Course. Existing trainers who have not been certified through the new course are required to take the 2022 online course when their certification expires. Both new and existing trainers may continue to monitor students and practicum observers.

ODP Announcement 22-104 is to inform all interested parties that Trainers are now able to administer new classes and students are able to register in the new Medication Administration platform. This announcement contains instructions for requesting a student class, viewing the gradebook, the structure of the student courses, marking manual grades, and accessing the Acknowledgement of Qualification.

A link to the recording and PDF for the Medication Administration Student Course Overview for Trainers webinar, which was held on September 8, 2022, from 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm, is included.

ODP Announcement 22-091 informs all interested parties that the new Medication Administration platform is now available for trainers and primary contacts. This announcement contains instructions for logging in with an existing account, creating a new account, accessing the “Train the Trainer” course, submitting payment, and registering for the Face-to-Face class.

A recording and PowerPoint for the Medication Administration Platform Overview webinar held on August 10, 2022, from 10:00 am – 11:00 am is included. Further development of the platform is continuing with trainers able to administer new classes and student registration becoming available on September 6, 2022.

This webinar will provide an overview of the new Medication Administration Platform for Trainer Candidates and Primary Contacts that launches on August 8, 2022. You will learn how to create an account, enroll in the Train-the-Trainer course, submit payment, view the lessons and exams, and register for the face-to-face session.

*Trainer facilitated Student Courses will be available on September 6, 2022, and a separate training will be held for certified trainers closer to that date.

ODP Announcement 22-054 informs Medication Administration Trainers that the outage for important infrastructural changes to the Medication Administration Training Program will now be extended through Sunday, August 7, 2022.

Trainers will be able to login and register to take the “Train the Trainer” course on August 8, 2022. Trainers will be able to administer new classes, and students will be able to register in the system on September 6, 2022. If you attempt to conduct a class or complete any training on the system during this outage, your work will be lost.

All sites related to the Medication Administration Training Program will be unavailable because of scheduled maintenance from 12:00 am, Friday, July 1, 2022, now through Sunday, August 7, 2022. We apologize for the inconvenience.

ODP Announcement 20-114 provides an updated timeline on Medication Administration training requirements as it pertains to the “Modified” and “Standard” courses offered by the Office of Developmental Programs (ODP). Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, ODP allowed staff who are required to take the Standard Medication Administration Training Course (“Standard Course”) to take the Modified Medication Administration Training Course (“Modified Course”) until December 31, 2021.

Because the effects of the pandemic are ongoing, staff can continue to take the Modified Course in place of the Standard Course until July 31, 2022.

The Department previously required that staff who took the Modified Course in lieu of the Standard Course complete the Standard Course no later than December 31, 2022. Please be advised that this deadline has been extended to July 31, 2023.

Beginning August 1, 2022, staff persons must take the Standard Course.

The ODPANN 22-054 Update is to inform all interested parties that important infrastructural changes to the Medication Administration Training Program will now be rescheduled to take place from Friday, July 1 – Sunday, July 31, 2022, which will cause an outage. If you attempt to conduct a class or complete any training on the system during this outage, your work will be lost.
