Registration for the RCPA Conference 2022 Together! is now open! Together! will be held October 11 – 14, 2022, at the Hershey Lodge in person this year. Be sure to register soon, as early bird rate is available now until September 9, 2022.

We are excited for the lineup of speakers who will be presenting at this year’s conference, as there will be pertinent information available and discussed for all service areas. Workshop sessions include:

Learn the facts about the symptoms, prevention, and what to do if you or someone where you work gets sick. This webinar will include presentations by leaders and clinicians from the Department of Human Services (DHS) and the Department of Health (DOH), as well provide an opportunity for Q&A.

You’re invited to sign up for the Parent Alliance’s IEP Bootcamp! It doesn’t matter if you’re considering asking for an IEP for your child or if you’ve been to more meetings than you can count — you will learn something new.

Each morning, for 21 days, you’ll receive information and tips about one section of the IEP to help create a plan day-by-day for reviewing, evaluating, and improving your child’s IEP. With a special focus on their behavior and emotional needs, you’ll be well prepared for every meeting.

The Pennsylvania Disabilities Council (PADDC) will be hosting the Self Advocate Spotlight Series, which highlights how self-advocates are demonstrating their own leadership skills while also using their voices to mentor others.

Northampton Community College is offering free online training programs in the fall 2022 for personal care homes (PCHs) and Assisted Living Residences (ALRs). There are a variety of training topics being offered, including Verbal De-escalation Redirection Techniques, Dementia Care in PCH, and Safe Medication Practices.

Charting the LifeCourse was created to help individuals and families of all abilities and all ages develop a vision for a good life, think about what they need to know and do, identify how to find or develop supports, and discover what it takes to live the lives they want to live. This training series is for all professional stakeholders.

Participants in this training will:

  • Learn about the National Charting the LifeCourse Community of Practice;
  • Apply LifeCourse Principles and LifeCourse Framework; and
  • Practice Using LifeCourse Tools.

The Office of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (OMHSAS), in collaboration with the Office of Child Development and Early Learning (OCDEL), will be hosting a webinar on September 9 from 9:00 am – 11:00 am to support counties in their use of annual Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health (IECMH) funds. This webinar will include an overview of IECMH, organizations that host IECMH-related conferences, summits, and/or trainings that are preapproved for reimbursement, and instruction for counties on how to submit an IECMH funding request that is not preapproved.

RCPA will be hosting a golf outing to support the RCPA PAC on Monday, October 10, 2022, at Dauphin Highlands Golf Course, 650 S Harrisburg St., Harrisburg, PA 17113.
