The Office of Developmental Programs (ODP) has shared a new tool designed to support Administrative Entities and ODP staff when Providers or Supports Coordination Organizations (SCO) choose to provide agency-developed or agency-identified training that meets the General Orientation and annual training requirements of the 55 PA Code 6100. The reviewer determines if the identified staff completed each required annual training core course based on provider training records, including, but not limited to, a description of the course, sign-in sheets, transcripts, or certificates of completion from the training. ODPANN 24-036 is being included as a reminder of the annual training requirements.

The Office of Developmental Programs (ODP) has shared ODPANN 24-073, which announces that the Department-approved Supports Broker recertification training is available for the first seven months of Fiscal Year (FY) 2024/25. The Office of Developmental Programs (ODP) requires that Support Service Professionals/Supports Brokers under the Consolidated, Person/Family Directed Support (P/FDS), and Community Living (CL) Waivers must successfully complete a Supports Broker Certification Program provided by ODP or its designee every three years following their initial certification. The resources for the Administration for Community Living’s (ACL) Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Technical Assistance and Resource Center’s (TARC) June 2024 webinar Cognitive Impairment in Substance Use Disorder Treatment: Neurologic Informed Care are now available and posted on the ACL website. The resources posted include the webinar recording (captioned and available on YouTube) and webinar slides.

During the webinar, John D. Corrigan, PhD, ABPP, introduced the new American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) expectations for the treatment of persons with cognitive impairment, including “Neurologic Informed Care,” as described in the new criteria. Implications for the identification of people in treatment who have a history of brain injury, as well as the use of accommodations to make treatment more accessible, were discussed.

The Office of Developmental Programs (ODP) has shared ODPANN 24-064. The purpose of this communication is to notify trainers and learners that the start of the Medication Administration system upgrade has been delayed. The upcoming system upgrade for the Medication Administration system will be starting Thursday, September 26, 2024, and ending Thursday, October 10, 2024.

ODP Announcement 24-068 is to remind trainers and learners about changes in the Medication Administration (MA) Training course and possible impacts of those changes:

  1. Written Documentation – Part 1: Pharmacy Label/Medication Record Comparison (Exam)
  2. Lesson Quizzes (1 through 9)

New Trainer and Recertification Face-to-Face classes have been added to the July schedule, and additional Summer and Fall classes will be announced soon. If you have any issues with registering, please submit a ticket electronically.

The Pennsylvania Association of Community Health Centers (PACHC) is offering free behavioral health training opportunities. A training session on Co-Occurring Mental Health & Substance Use Disorders for PACHC members will take place on July 25 from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm, focusing on evidence-based practices and medication-assisted treatment. Additionally, PACHC is partnering with the Association of Clinicians for the Underserved (ACU) for a five-part webinar series on Suicide Safer Care July – August 2024, which is aimed at equipping health center staff with strategies to support patients and staff at risk.
