The PA Family Network has a wonderful series of events happening this March — five in-person Summits on Emergency Preparedness. These summits will be regional — happening in York, Wilkes/Barre, State College, Philadelphia, and Cranberry — and will provide opportunities for individuals with disabilities, families, and interested individuals to learn more about Emergency Preparedness, Safety, Interactions with First Responders, and more.
There will be no fee to attend, and breakfast and lunch will be provided. Each day will be from 8:30 am – 4:00 pm.

ODP Announcement 23-008 announces that the amendment to the Adult Autism Waiver (AAW), effective January 1, 2023, was approved by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) on January 13, 2023. The amendment to the AAW includes the following substantive changes:

The Pennsylvania office of the US Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division is offering a free webinar as a part of their commitment to educate employers and workers about the pertinent laws and the rights of care workers. This webinar will focus on the Fair Labor Standards Act for Home Care Industry Employers, Registry Services, and Staffing Agencies and Associations.

In observance of Brain Injury Awareness Month, the Administration for Community Living (ACL) will be hosting a virtual Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Partners Day on February 28, 2023, from 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm. Registration for the free event is now open.
Each year, under what was previously called TBI Stakeholder Day, ACL convenes interested parties to discuss important issues around TBI services, supports, and systems and to learn from other partners, brain injury survivors, family members, support networks, and state and federal representatives.
This year, there will be sessions on aging, employment, the intersectionality of TBI and other medical and social issues, and peer support.
ACL is still working on finalizing the agenda for the 2023 ACL TBI Partners Day; however, they plan to include state and federal representatives as well as brain injury survivors and family members in the sessions. Session participants will be given the opportunity to ask questions during each session.

A Financial Management Services (FMS) stakeholder meeting has been scheduled for January 6, 2023, from 1:00 pm – 2:30 pm. During this public meeting, there be a discussion on the administration of FMS under the Community HealthChoices (CHC), OBRA Waiver, and Act 150 programs. Representatives from the Office of Long-Term Living (OLTL) and CHC Managed Care Organizations (MCOs) will be in attendance to discuss the FMS program.
