The Office of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (OMHSAS) has announced the 2025 quarterly meeting dates for next year’s OMHSAS Stakeholder Webinars and asks that you mark your calendars.

2025 OMHSAS STAKEHOLDER WEBINAR DATES:

  • January 30, 2025 — 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm
  • April 24, 2025 — 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm
  • July 17, 2025 — 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm
  • October 23, 2025 — 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm

In the meantime, if you have suggestions for agenda topics for January’s webinar, please submit them via email. We will monitor the account and will only reply to the sender if more information is needed. Responses will not be provided if additional information is not needed.

About the Event
The Pennsylvania Department of Human Services Office of Developmental Programs and Office of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services invite you to participate in the statewide Dual Diagnosis Conference being held virtually next week on May 22–23, 2024. Nationally recognized speakers will provide a variety of perspectives on the impact of trauma, physical health, and metabolic health.

There is no fee to attend the virtual conference, but advance registration is required. Closed captioning and ASL will be provided during the livestreaming of the conference. Register here today!

The Office of Developmental Programs (ODP) has reached out to remind Medication Administration trainers that the 2004 paper course, as well as the 2004 and 2013 manuals, will be discontinued and no longer valid for use in training students after December 31, 2023. ODP also wishes to announce the Train-the-Trainer Fall 2023 Schedule. Read the full announcement for details.

ODP Announcement 22-125 is to provide updates regarding the Medication Administration training. The observation timeframe schedule for Initial Training Requirements has been reduced. If the required initial medication administration observations have not been completed successfully within 90 days, the student must repeat the entire standard medication training course. Trainers will now be responsible for marking the Handwashing/Gloving total grade activity in the Medication Administration Student course. The announcement also includes the Train-the-Trainer Winter/Spring 2023 Face-to-Face Schedule.

Registration for the RCPA Conference 2022 Together! is now open! Together! will be held October 11 – 14, 2022, at the Hershey Lodge in person this year. Be sure to register, as the early bird rate is available now until September 9, 2022.

The 2022 event features more than 60 workshops, most of which will be recorded to allow participants to take advantage of viewing sessions after the event. We will have over 90 continuing education credit options. Participants will also be able to visit Beacon Health Options Connections Hall and networking events.

You will not want to miss keynote speakers, including:

  • Dick Finnegan, a respected speaker, author, and CEO of C-Suite Analytics, who will provide his insight on “The Great Resignation;”
  • Deborah Riddick, a public policy expert, who will discuss how intentional collaboration, centered in curiosity, authenticity, and integrity, can help to address health disparities;
  • Dan Hilferty, a respected authority on health care, business, and civic engagement; and
  • Michael Cohen, who has updated stories of uncommon HR situations and strategies to resolve them.

We will also have two plenary sessions available for all attendees. The first will provide national updates from our partners Chuck Ingoglia of National Council for Mental Wellbeing and Gabrielle Sedor of ANCOR. Later on in the week, Meg Snead, Acting Secretary of the Department of Human Services, and Jennifer Smith, Secretary of the Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs, will highlight key accomplishments from DHS and DDAP respectively.

Several sessions will focus on workforce development, workforce recruitment and retention, value-based payments, telehealth, and trauma-informed support. Learn how to effectively share your story with legislators. Join us to hear from respected colleagues regarding state-of-the-art practices and new thoughts on service provisions.
