DirectCourse is a collaboration between Elsevier and the University of Minnesota’s Research and Training Center on Community Living and is funded through the Pennsylvania Office of Developmental Programs, Department of Human Services and administered by the Institute on Disabilities at Temple University.

The Institute on Disabilities at Temple University is inviting people to participate in a paid interview about the Direct Support Professional (DSP) workforce.

Who can participate?

  • Current and former Direct Support Professionals (DSP) or Support Service Professionals (SSP).
  • Individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) or their family members with experience of migration and/or the DSP workforce crisis.
  • Direct support providers.

The Office of Developmental Programs (ODP) has shared updates to ODPANN 24-043. This announcement’s purpose is:

  1. To announce changes in the Medication Administration Training course and possible impacts of those changes. These changes have been rescheduled from July 1, 2024, to July 15, 2024. Please view the communication for updates in Red.
    1. Written Documentation — Part 1: Pharmacy Label/Medication Record Comparison (Exam)
    2. Lesson Quizzes (1–9)
  2. To announce changes in the Practicum Observer materials, which can be found in Trainer Resources.
  3. To announce the availability of an in-person Face-to-Face class for New Trainers. This class will be held at Temple University – Harrisburg, on June 27, 2024. New Trainers may register for this class on the Medication Administration site after successfully completing the Train- the-Trainer course.

The Pennsylvania Department of Vocational Rehabilitation (OVR) and Temple University will be conducting an upcoming PA Business-to-Business Mentor Network event on how organizations can be more inclusive specific to hiring people with disabilities.

The webinar will be held on May 23, 2024, from 10:00 am – 11:00 am. Additional information, as well as a link to register, is available in the flyer here.
