The Office of Developmental Programs (ODP) has shared ODPANN 23-067: Fiscal Year (FY) 2023-2024 Supports Broker Recertification Training. The purpose of this communication is to announce that Department-approved Supports Broker recertification training is available for the first seven months of Fiscal Year 2023/24. Please review the announcement for the available dates, and note that registration information will be forthcoming.

Temple University Harrisburg will be offering some no-cost training options that are approved to meet Personal Care Home (PCH) and Assisted Living Residence (ALR) Administrator annual training requirements. The training sessions that will be offered in the fall include:

Interested individuals need only to register for one session for each topic. Please read the training announcements in full before registering to ensure you can meet the participation requirements.

Please only register for these sessions if you are sure you will be able to complete them, as participation is limited for each course. If you register and later discover you are unable to participate, please cancel your registration to create space for other participants.

The Pennsylvania Department of Drug & Alcohol Programs (DDAP) is offering an online training module “Anxiety Disorders & Substance Use Disorder (SUD): Research-Based Strategies & Treatments.” The training covers effective treatments for individuals with co-occurring anxiety and substance use disorders, including cognitive-behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and mindfulness meditation. It includes interactive elements and takes approximately 4 hours to complete. To access the training, create or log in to your account on the TrainPA website and search for “PA-DDAP: Anxiety Disorders & SUDs” under courses. The Office of Developmental Programs (ODP) has shared ODPANN 23-062 Medication Administration Paper Course Discontinuation Reminder and Train-the-Trainer Summer 2023 Schedule. The purpose of this communication is to remind Medication Administration trainers that the 2004 paper course, as well as the 2004 and 2013 manuals, will be discontinued and no longer valid for use in training students after December 31, 2023. The Train-the-Trainer Summer 2023 Face-to-Face Schedule is also in the communication.

The Pennsylvania Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs (DDAP) is organizing various training sessions throughout the state. View the schedule for information about the dates, locations, and available courses in your region. Trainings will start on August 8, 2023 and include Case Management Skills, Ethics in Prevention, Screening and Assessment, and more. To attend these courses, you need to register through DDAP’s Training Management System. Each course requires separate registration, and seats are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. The Office of Developmental Programs (ODP) has recently shared ODPANN 23-048: Required Communication Specialist Provider Qualification Training. The announcement provides guidance and information relating to a new qualification requirement that has been added to the Communication Specialist Service. This requirement will become effective January 1, 2024. This guidance is being released to give providers sufficient time to meet the new requirement.

All providers who wish to provide this service after January 1, 2024, must complete the Communication Specialist training provided on MyODP. This applies to Communication Specialists, Communication Specialists that are direct employees of an agency, and contracted employees of an agency.
